March 10, 2021 - (Last Virtual?) Gathering Ground

 ZOOM ZOOM

A full session of folks attended the Zoom session on Wednesday March 10: Mill, and Kenn Hebert from Florida, Tim O from NH, Chris from Vt and then Fred, Bill, Dave E and Jerry on the Connecticut turf.

Chris reminded me to take notes so I did pencil a few as follows:

Quick survey on who is fixed for COVID.   Most are good, Mil is holding out trying to schedule both he and his wife at the same time.   I suspect at the time you are reading this most will have had there one or two doses.   Click your heels and go out!!

Kenn stated that he is planning on heading north around the first of April, and of course Mil piped up "WHY?".  Weather is perfect Aprill with highs in the 70's or 80's and low humidity.... Sounds like Hartford in June.

Chris knows John is getting a new grey truck, no details beyond that but I know from a conversation that it will be the 3.5 turbo Ford F150.   Long term objective will be to haul a travel trailer instead of the current Class C as that is aging and needs replacing.

Tim found the moles have made inroads into his freshly ground turf.   After the snow melt, many holes were discovered.   So by inserting a flare into one hole that got smoke signals from several other holes along with a great feeling of satisfaction that those Son of a Guns... have been toasted in place.

Dave is done with Taxes but Tim continues to do volunteer duty to the elderly and poor with several filings each day he works.  Chris was surprised by the great number per day and of course Tim quipped, I'm quick but I don't get paid for being correct!

Chris asked the crew how the new format for NFTH was received.   Of course everyone grunted good.   So when she asked if anyone else would like to take the task of editor and publisher, there was a resounding "LOVE IT" from all.

Some discussion about moving to new states and going through DMV to get license and registration.   Sounds like Florida is quite simple and Tim's comment on the process in New Hampshire, "like walking into a residential house with only a couple of people in line.   .The eye test was the hardest, I had to take it 2 or 3 times, then after they told me the numbers on the chart, it was much easier!!"

Plans are to get back to "in person" at the Gathering Ground" in WIndsor Locks.  Will be good to see everyone again and enjoy the conversations from all!

Just how big was that container ship?

Here's an app that let's you place the EverGiven (that ship that blocked the Suez Canal) anywhere on the map to get an idea of it's size - click here: EverGiven Anywhere.
