February 2025 Gathering Ground Report

 GATHERING GROUND REPORT - February 12, 2025

Bill & Jo-Ann in Windsor Locks; Chris, John, Jerry & Diane in Quebec; Tim in NH

Jo-Ann and Bill were the only live participants Wednesday. We had very enjoyable conversations.

First off, Jo-Ann has planned a trip to Patagonia Chili with her family, leaving the last week of February. She showed me pictures of the places she planned to visit. They were outstanding. You remember, Jo and her husband Jim walked the entire AP (Appalachian Trail) last year. It's fair to say she is a big time hiker. The mountains in Patagonia are breath taking.  She will also visit Buenos Aires in Argentina (it's so close, why not!).

Next, Jerry Kimble and I, along with three other guys, are leaving for California and Nevada for a week of skiing at Heavenly Valley. (Actually, we're here as I write these notes). The weather here is outrageous. Bright sun all day, and reasonable temperatures. I only wish I had brought a second set of legs.

Jo and I talked about politics for a few minutes. All I'll say is we are on the same page.  No need to elaborate.

Finally, the highlight of the day was a Zoom meeting with Jerry Kimble, John Lussier, Chris Lesinski, and Diane Lototski. That crew (along with Jerry’s wife Laura and John’s brother Jay & wife Andrea) were skiing at Mount Tremblant, Canada. We were also honored to have Tim O’Connor sign in.

The skiers were  having a great time, as expected. Tim reported in, saying he's well and happy. Tim did report that there are no fish in NH lately. Wait till spring.

The Gathering Ground does not have WIFI, so we had to rely on a hot spot from my phone. It worked, but there were transmission problems which caused the occasional freezing. But it all worked out.

That's it for now, until next month.
